For his latest album and 2018/2019 tour, Max Raabe has discovered how to write good songs: simply not to do anything. It's the only way to find that sweet spot when the music flows all on its own. "I stay at home and just lie around“ sounds so natural - in the title song.
But the reality is totally different
Max Raabe enjoys working with pop stars, at the same time if you bring Annette Humpe, Christoph Israel, Peter Plate, Ulf Leo Sommer, Daniel Faust and Achim Hagemann under the same roof, it can take a while to find, write down and sing that perfect moment.
Since 29 September 2017, there has been a wonderful video online on Max Raabe's & Palast Orchester's Vevo channel for the single “Der perfekte Moment .. wird heut verpennt”, showing Max Raabe lying on a hammock on a boat sailing through Berlin.
"Der perfekte Moment .. wird heut verpennt" is also the title of the new 2018/2019 programme of Max Raabe & Palast Orchester. The subtle irony of the songs from the '20s and '30s fit seamlessly with the quirky humour of Raabe pop - such songs as "Guten Tag, liebes Glück", "Ich bin dein Mann" and "Willst du bei mir bleiben". Or the fast-paced "Fahrrad fahr’n".
Mr Raabe has recruited his namesake from the animal kingdom to support him on this tour. The billboards show Raabe, Max and Rudi the raven sitting together on a cable: the perfect moment!
